BIO I've been acting for a long time. Mostly acting like a fool. But as far as an acting career, I didn't take it seriously until after a lot of on and off dabbling in it, and doing a bunch of extra work that paid OK but fed even better. Then I got a phone call from a casting director who took pity on me and my lousy snapshot I had mailed to her office. You know, the kind of snapshot every beginner sends in - it's 4x6 instead of 8x10, the lighting looks like I used a Polaroid camera circa 1971, and I'm posing like I'm on the cover of GQ but it looks more like a hopelessly ugly candid taken at prom of me trying to look hard. Well, thank God this CD talked some sense into me. The conversation went something like this: CD: I got your photo. And I know what you're trying to do here but this isn't a headshot. Me: Who are you again and how did you get my photo? CD: I'm a casting director. I got your photo from you. Me: (Still clueless as ever) I've never heard of you. Are you sure you have my photo? CD: You're posing like you're on the cover of GQ here but it looks more like a hopelessly ugly candid taken at prom of you trying to look hard. Me: (Embarrassed, as well I should be) Ah...yea, that's me. CD: You can get work in this town but you need professional photos done. I recommend so-and-so. He's really good. Get some done and resubmit to me. And that's how I fell back into this roller coaster of a career. |
